In previous days, we have talked about the postpone of The International 10, the most prestigious DotA 2 tournament to date. Ever since it was launched in 2011, the series became famous for its gigantic prize pool which is primarily backed up by Valve with an entry amount and later increased by a specific percentage of purchases made in DotA 2.

Every year, The International’s prize pool managed to get larger and especially during last few years it simply went out of control into a full-scale prize pool madness. Last year, this unbelieveable prize pool managed to make it to $34,330,068 and amaze everyone.

Due to COVID-19, the tournament was unfortunately postponed by Valve over the reasonable concerns of potential health issues for everyone involved. This change made it very easy to anticipate a bigger prize pool as it was already enough to make it happen in just one year timeframe, and now we have much more than that. Still though, the tradition keeps up and running as the The International 10’s prize pool officially broke this record once more.

To be precise, it was 20 days faster than the previous one and this pace gets even crazier every year. This is also a very serious indicator of the power in crowd-funding. Valve now aims to see $40M threshold, and it will probably not even be a challenge with this pace.
