“BIG” Surprise In ESL One Cologne 2020 Europe
ESL One Cologne 2020 event is bringing us very thrilling matches to keep us on our screens for days. Highest tier CS:GO teams are facing each other over a remarkable prize pool one after another, and brackets are closing in fast. This year’s run had some early surprises for us though in the very first round of matches.
After DreamHack Open Summer 2020 Europe was won by BIG in quite a decisive fashion, now we are seeing them say goodbye to the long-awaited major ESL One Cologne 2020 right away. The very opening match of the tournament was between BIG and Sprout, where Sprout had a nice 2–0 win and advanced to upper semi-finals match. BIG, on the other hand, went to lower bracket to face another team to keep the chance for moving forward in the event. NiP was the next rival to tackle, but BIG also lost with 1–2 score and said goodbye to ESL One Cologne after their glorious victory in Dreamhack Open Summer 2020 Europe.
Another strong contender, mousesports, also could not win against Natus Vincere and went down right into lower bracket. They faced MAD Lions there as Complexity won against them with a straight 2–0 score, but MAD Lions were apparently “too mad” for mousesports to handle also. With a 0–2 loss, mousesports also said an early goodbye to this critical tournament.
Other teams who were also knocked out early are Heretics and MiBR. Losing against their strong rivals Vitality and Fnatic respectively, Heretics were unfortunate to throw in the towel before they could make it to second round. MiBR was also not in a very favorable position against G2 and FaZe Clan, therefore we see them sharing the same fate with BIG, mousesports and Heretics.
Today’s matches will be Sprout vs. OG and Vitality vs. Astralis. Matches will be live on twitch.tv/esl_csgo.
