Astralis Is The Champion Of ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe
It has been a very exciting run for Astralis since the beginning of ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe. Falling to Heroic at the very beginning of Playoffs, Astralis had to come back from that thin line for all the matches they had after that one. They have beaten Team Spirit in the lower bracket’s first round, Complexity in the lower bracket’s second round, mousesports in lower bracket finals and finally revenged on Heroic in consolidation finals to take a shot at Natus Vincere in the grand finals.
Having a default one map advantage in the grand finals due to coming from upper bracket, Natus Vincere also had an impressive run against Astralis in 2020. With this much pressure on their shoulders, Astralis was not an easy favorite for the match despite how much they have proven themselves so far. They even lost the first map, dust2, and again put themselves into a position of “life and death”. Despite this huge disadvantage and lack of morale, Astralis managed to come back from the dead as they have previously done to win the match one step at a time.
After losing dust2 12–16, Astralis knew they did not have another chance to fail. Ramping up their game in Nuke, they grabbed a very close win of 16–14 score. With this confidence in hand, the high-tension Train map was eventually won by Astralis after a mindblowing double overtime with 22–19 score.
Overpass was a relatively quick map as Astralis got an 11–4 lead in the first half. While Natus Vincere put a great effort to hold on and brought the score 11–12, Astralis was already determined to push with all their strength and bring the title home. After a quiet period and Natus Vincere being their bane for a good while, Danish stars are finally back to scene with a bang.
